who are we

The Assemblies of God exist in our country for more than ninety (90) years and they are one of the denominations or confessions that integrate the Portuguese Evangelical Alliance.

The Assemblies of God they are composed of Christians, of different social conditions, that place their faith in the divine person and the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. They are organized in a very simple way, according to the patterns of the Primitive Christian Church.

The Assemblies of God are autonomous in its government and support, although they maintain liaisons of fraternity and of cooperation with each other.

The Sacred Bible is its code, the one and only and authority that they recognize as regards to faith (doctrine), moral behavior and religious practice, for being the word of God for the human being. The Church is Christ's body and the believers are the members of that body.

The relationship among the members is of absolute equality of duties and privileges. Above everybody, however, Christ reigns - the Head of the Church - that through the Holy Spirit guides them in all the truth.

The meetings of the Assemblies of God are exempt of special rituals, and consist essentially of the reading and explanation of the Sacred Scriptures, prayer and the singing of hims.

The Assemblies of God, like the primitive Christians preach, the existence of "one only God and one only mediator between God and man - Jesus Christ, man, who gave himself as the redemption price for everybody " (I Timothy 2:5, 6).

They also affirm that the human being, during his terrestrial life, can be sure of his eternal salvation, by faith in the merits of the sacrifice made on the cross of Calvary by the Son of God (John 3:16).

They proclaim, the need of the faithful observance of Jesus teachings, so that man can experience progressive sanctification in his life.

They also observe the ordinances of Baptism and of the Breaking of the Bread that are an emblematic memorial of our regeneration and communion with God.
